Christmas-at-Sea

Help make a BIG difference in
the lives of others this holiday!

Most of us are blessed with family and friends during the holidays, but Christmas can be a lonely time for seafarers. Every year during the season of Christmas (Thanksgiving through Orthodox Christmas on Jan. 7th) the International Seafarers' Center spreads the love of Christ through our Christmas at Sea program. About 1500 seafarers travel through the port of Brunswick from Thanksgiving to January 7th. We attempt to give every seafarer a Christmas present. Often this is the only gift they receive as they travel the seas transporting 95% of the goods that we use every day.

How can you help? Here's how you can give a gift to a seafarer and share your holiday spirit: collect 12 - 15 of the following items, from as many of the different categories as possible, place them in a shoebox, wrap it in Christmas paper, and bring it to our Center at 307 Newcastle Street in Brunswick.  Or gather up the items and bring them in for our volunteers to stuff into ditty bags.  This is an excellent project for church groups, schools, civic organizations, businesses, and clubs, as well as for families and individuals.

Please contact us if you would like information on making ditty bags or knitting watch caps for the seafarers.  Call Robert Randall at 912-267-0631 or e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
